Choose a BBQ meal carrier around the filled trays, sauce pots and carrying journey, not the printed lid alone. Measure a complete order, decide which components contain the food, and approve a packed sample before confirming artwork or volume. This guide concerns packaging for a prepared meal; it is not a cooking appliance specification.

Choose a meal carrier, not a cooking system
A meal carrier organizes already-packed food and accessories. A grill-kit presentation box organizes a different assortment of components. A similar outer shape does not make the two interchangeable. Tell the supplier exactly what goes inside and whether the box is only a carrier or a component of a broader kit.
The MXPACKPRO BBQ meal tray carry box shows elongated tray positions. The grill-kit packaging box shows a component-grid arrangement. Neither photograph establishes fire resistance, cooking safety, insulation or a tested holding time. Fuel, cooking hardware and food are not assumed to be included.
Measure the complete order
| Part of the order | Measure or record | Check on a packed sample |
|---|---|---|
| Main trays | Outer rim dimensions, full height and filled weight | The lid closes without pressing the food or tray lids |
| Sauce pots | Actual pot and lid diameter, height and count | Pots stay located without being squeezed by heavier items |
| Sides and utensils | Wrapped dimensions and separate compartment needs | The complete assortment fits without forcing the closure |
| Outer carrier | Required footprint, loaded weight and carrying method | Balance, grip, closure and fit inside delivery equipment |
Keep the food-contact layer explicit
A printed board carrier and its inner trays are different components. Identify where food touches the pack, which trays or wraps you will supply, and which components you want included in the quotation. Describe oily or wet foods, packing conditions and the expected contact duration.
For US-bound specifications, FDA guidance distinguishes food types and conditions of use for food-contact substances. Treat this as a reason to define the actual application, not as an FDA approval claim for this box. Ask for documentation covering the final components and destination market.
Run one realistic sample trial
- Pack the actual assortment
Use the proposed trays, liners and sauce pots with a representative filled order. Record the arrangement so later prototypes can be compared.
- Reproduce your handoff
Close, lift, carry and place the sample in your normal delivery setup. Check movement, closure and any moisture or grease after the journey you intend to serve. Record observations; do not turn one trial into a universal performance claim.
- Approve one version
Confirm board, tray layout, print, assembly and export packing together. Keep an identified approved sample and artwork version for repeat orders.
Send a brief that can be quoted
Include tray and sauce-pot dimensions, filled weight, units per artwork version, the food-facing components, artwork status, destination postcode and required arrival date. State whether you need a structural or printed sample. Ask the quotation to separate packaging, inserts, sample costs, outer cartons and delivery terms.
MOQ, production timing and suitability are confirmed for the exact project. Compare quotations with the same contents and packing configuration rather than assuming that two similar lid photographs describe the same pack.

Purchasing questions
Can a BBQ meal box be used as a disposable barbecue?
Do not use a meal carrier as a cooking appliance. This guide and the product photographs do not establish resistance to flame, fuel or cooking heat. Any cooking-system project needs a separate specification and appropriate evidence.
Are the food trays and sauce cups included?
Do not assume they are. List the components you need supplied and those you will supply yourself, with their actual dimensions. The quotation must identify the included scope.
What is the best size for a BBQ takeaway box?
There is no universal size. Arrange the actual filled trays, cups and accessories, measure their footprint and height, and confirm the carrier and insert on a loaded sample.
Can you confirm a price before the artwork is ready?
Send the dimensions, quantity per design, proposed print coverage and destination. Mark undecided items clearly. Any preliminary price depends on those assumptions and must be confirmed against the approved specification.
